Description RIWC Regina Immigrant Women Centre is a non-profit organization providing services to newcomer women and their families. RIWC is hiring a Social Worker in the Family Support Program to provide client-centered family and gender-based interventions, support services, and information workshops for vulnerable newcomer women and their families.

Job Requirements

  • Manage a caseload using knowledge and application of culturally affirming, trauma-informed case management model.
  • Develop case plans for newcomer women and their families to provide strength-based support and treatment plans to empower clients and create stability and security in their life.
  • Engage clients in problem-solving techniques to strengthen their independence and informed decision-making skills.
  • Help to organize weekly Saturday program for mothers & children involving arts & life skills.
  • Create partnerships with support agencies to advocate on behalf of clients for access to services and resources.
  • Develop and deliver one-on-one or group educational and life skills workshops.
  • Ability to build and maintain a professional relationship with clients while maintaining boundaries and building trust and support.
  • Knowledge of culturally sensitive approaches to work with newcomers.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
  • Ability to balance diverse and conflicting workload pressures in a timely manner to meet client needs and program goals.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive case files. Compile information to create reports.

Work Environment: Flexibility in work hours are required to meet client needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Social Work is mandatory and 1 to 2 years of experience working with culturally diverse clients.
  • Knowledge of Sask. Income support process is an asset.
  • Familiarity with Regina community resources and their processes.
  • Class 5 Drivers License and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Check.
