The Ministry of Corrections Policing and Public Safety is responsible for providing supervision and rehabilitation services for adult and young offenders in Saskatchewan.

Our mission is to ensure appropriate and effective policing, while also supporting community and public safety services.

As dedicated corrections professionals, our primary focus is to ensure the safe and secure custody of adult and young offenders.

We strive to deliver individualized services that address their specific needs promoting public safety and reducing the likelihood of reoffending.

Our work involves direct engagement with offenders aiming to support positive change in their lives and facilitate their successful reintegration into the community.

As a Correctional Officer so your role will involve the following responsibilities: Ensuring the safety and security of adult offenders in diverse correctional settings.

Managing offender behaviour and implementing evidence-based case management practices to reduce the risk of re-offending.

Working closely with adult offenders who may have experienced intergenerational trauma, possess special needs, display gender differences, or embrace various cultural and spiritual beliefs.

Accurately interpreting and applying relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.

Effectively communicating, engaging, and interacting with offenders to build respectful relationships and establish rapport.

Adopting a collaborative, one-team approach that promotes interdisciplinary teamwork.

Continuously assessing situational factors and evaluating the level of risk to make informed and appropriate decisions.

Preventing, responding to, and resolving incidents using safe and reasonable intervention strategies.

Applying a balanced approach of risk management and risk reduction strategies to enhance public safety.
