Description Our client has an immediate full-time permanent opportunity available for a Grain Buyer in Regina, SK.
Responsibilities
- Successfully examine/test crops to estimate their value, grade, and extent of dirt, burrs, hulls, seeds, etc.
- Successfully build relationships with customers/farmers as well as develop partnerships.
- Responsible for managing grain procurement in an effective manner.
- Responsible for negotiating and buying grain such as lentils, peas, flax seeds, and specialty crops.
- Responsible for extracting samples and delivers to the office for analysis and certification.
- Effectively keep daily records on kinds, grades of grain received, prices paid, amount purchased, and amount in storage.
- Sends out daily reports to management of all offers and bids.
- Responsible for sending out weekly seeding, crop progress, and harvest reports as well as market trends.
- Successfully calculate market value bargains with sellers to obtain grain at a favorable price.
Qualifications
- Degree in Agri-Business or other formal training preferred.
- Experience with grain purchasing and contract management required.
- Strong knowledge in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Valid Driver's License.
